Toward the end of May 2009, Cisco announced the completion of the acquisition of Pure Digital Technology Inc. based in San Francisco. Pure Digital is a pioneer in developing video solutions are easily used by consumers to appeal to a broad market.
Acquisition of Pure Digital is one of Cisco's strategy to expand measures the momentum of media-enabled home and capture the transition from the consumer market to the visual networking. This acquisition will bring Cisco Cunsumer Business to the next stage as the company that built the new video capabilities and provide entertainment and communications experience the next generation of consumers.
With the completion of this acquisition, Pure Digital teams become part of Cisco CBG including home networking, audio products and media-storage Linksys by Cisco. Jonathan Kaplan (Chairman and CEO of Pure Digital) became Senior Vice President and General Manager of the combined organization who are directly under Ned Hooper, senior vice president, Cisco's Corporate Development and Consumer.
